European Immunisation Week from 24-30 April 2017

During European Immunisation Week (EIW) from 24 to 30 April 2017, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) recommends that people get their vaccination status checked and updated by a physician or pharmacist.

The FOPH wants to raise awareness in the population during the EIW for the importance of vaccinations against pertussis (whooping cough) and measles using the slogan “My vaccination. Your protection”. By being vaccinated against whooping cough and measles, parents, in particular, can protect their newborn babies and infants from an infection as infants cannot be vaccinated in the first months of their life. During this time they are very susceptible to diseases with potentially serious complications. Hence the parents and close family and carers should get vaccinated to protect them.

Vaccinations are the most effective measure of prevention. Vaccinations can easily and safely prevent many infectious diseases. Get your vaccination booklet checked at your physician's practice or the pharmacy and make up for missing vaccinations immediately or at your next appointment.

If you have any further questions, please contact your physician.
